Pine outdoor or indoor pool and snooker tables

Pine is an excellent and under-utilised material for making pool tables and undersized snooker tables, particularly when a single slab of slate is used (larger tables use sectional, thicker slate for which seasoned hardwoods hardwoods are normally used). These are some points in favour of pine:

● pine is ecologically sustainable unlike many furniture-quality hardwoods
● in its natural state it is rich in grain and knots, and has a modern clean and minimalist look
● pine is also versatile in that it will readily absorb stains and paints to create unlimited range finishes
● pine is well established material for outdoor garden furniture
● pine is lighter than a hardwood and is therefore more manoeuvrable.

● playing-sizes: 5ft, 6ft 7ft or 8ft (plus all intermediate measurements)
● playing surfaces: slate bed, exterior plywood bed or interior MDF  (1")
● leg-choices: wide leg (5") or narrow leg (4") and straight leg or turned leg
● pool table finish: interior or exterior lacquer or paint
● corner pockets: mitred-wood corners or brass mounted corner plates
● pocket-nets: drop down nets or ball rails
● table levellers: traditional shims or brass / plastic levelling plates fitted on legs
